iOS 11 - iOS 11.0.3 Jailbreak News
iOS 11 - iOS 11.0.3 jailbreak is finally here. There were many successful jailbreak attempts of iOS 11, but none ever made it to the public until now. Keen labs success with iOS 11 and higher versions several times but Tigris team is still seen to be struggle with the goal. It's interesting to read the history of iOS 11 jailbreak attempts.
iOS 11 beta 2 Jailbroken
It took only three weeks from the WWDC17 for the jailbreakers to jailbreak iOS 11. Both iOS 11 and iOS 10.3.2 Jailbreak has been demonstrated by "Liang Chen of Tencent Keen Lab" but there is a doubt of releasing it as a jailbreak tool to the public for downloading and jailbreaking their devices running iOS 11. The following photograph was taken at the security conference and originally shared by Min Zheng, who is a Security Engineer at Keen Labs.
Tigris iOS 11 Jailbreak
Before even pass a month after the release of iOS 11 beta 1, recognized tweak developer team in the Jailbreak community announced that they are working on a iOS 11 Jailbreak. Well known tweak developer Antique_Dev makes the announcement to the Jailbreak community stating that, they are using the code name Tigris for this Jailbreak. They are planning to develop the Tigris to work with all the 64 bit devices running iOS 11 and their target is to make this Jailbreak Semi Untethered. They will start Tigris from the scratch using the knowledge of C++ and Objective C. However, as Antique_Dev mentioned in their first announcement, release date of this Jailbreak is yet to confirm but they will release a stable solution for sure. Last Jailbreak we saw was Yalu Jailbreak which supports iOS 10.2.x Therefore, many users hope that this will work out for them so they can use iOS 11 with their jailbroken device.
Latest addition to the iOS family, iOS 12 is planned to release on 17th September. According to security researchers, iOS 12 jailbreak will be harder than any previous jailbreak attempts. However, this isn't the end.
Cydia is Available for iOS 11
Waiting is over and Cydia is finally available for iOS 11 versions. Electra jailbreak included Cydia and it is said to be a patched version, but no comments from Saurik yet. Electra jailbreak wasn't the first jailbreak for iOS 11, but it's the first one which supports Cydia.
Jailbreak Tool for iOS 11 - iOS 11.0.3 Released
After so many attempts and hopes, LiberiOS public release is finally here for iOS 11 - iOS 11.1.2. It support all 64-bit iDevices including latest iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. It's a semi-untethered jailbreak tool.
LiberiOS does not support Cydia at the moment, but it will support when Cydia updated to work with iOS 11. This jailbreak is a success even without the Cydia. So, we believe that it's a jailbreak tool worth trying.
iOS 11.0.3 Released
Apple put iOS 11.0.3 to public on 11th of October, just 3 weeks after its major iOS 11 release and this is the third bug fix version of iOS 11. Previously apple dropped iOS 11.0.1 and iOS 11.0.2 to the public and compared to those bug fix versions, iOS 11.0.3 comes with somewhat bigger in size, around 230MBs but addressed only two main issues.
Issue fix releases (after iOS 11 released)
iOS 11.0.2 was released a few days ago to patch some minor issues users were facing. Below are the mainly addressed issues patched by that update.
- Crackling sounds occur during calls for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
- Some photos become hidden automatically
- Attachments in S/MIME encrypted emails would not open
As users were complaining that iOS 11 is containing some bugs, iOS 11.0.1 was released to the public just a week after the iOS 11 public release and now iOS 11.0.2. Even in iOS 10, jailbreak tool was released for iOS 10.2.1 by Luca todesco as Yalu Jailbreak. Therefore, we can hope that there can be a iOS 11.0.1 or iOS 11.0.2 jailbreak tool even if there’s no jailbreak available for iOS 11. Updates contain bug fixes, but sometimes there are some vulnerabilities they are unable to address or patch.
